Norma ASTM F392

Test Materials: ASTM F392 specifies that flexible barrier materials, such as films, laminates, and coatings, should be used for flex durability tests. These materials are typically employed in packaging applications, where they must demonstrate resistance to repeated bending, stretching, or folding.
Test Process: The test involves subjecting the material to repeated flexing, often using a specific apparatus like a flex tester. The specimen is bent at a set angle and cycle count until failure occurs. The test evaluates how the material withstands mechanical stress, simulating conditions encountered during handling and usage.
Test Result Interpretation: Results from ASTM F392 are interpreted based on the number of flex cycles a material can withstand before failure or significant degradation. The higher the number of cycles, the better the material’s durability against flexing, indicating its suitability for long-term use in packaging.
