ISO 8295

Test Materials: ISO 8295 outlines the materials used for the coefficient of friction test, including flexible plastic films and sheeting with a thickness range of 0.01 mm to 1 mm.

Test Process: The test process involves placing a sample of the material on a horizontal surface and measuring the resistance as a sled is pulled across it at a constant speed. Both the static (initial movement) and kinetic (continuous movement) friction forces are measured during this procedure.

Test Result Interpretation: The static coefficient is calculated as the force required to start the movement divided by the sled’s weight, while the kinetic coefficient is determined by the force needed to maintain movement divided by the sled’s weight. These values help assess the slipperiness or adhesion properties of the material.
