ISO 14616

Test Materials: ISO 14616 applies to heat-shrinkable films made from polyethylene, ethylene copolymers, and their mixtures. These films are typically used for packaging and other shrink-wrapping applications where shrinkage stress plays a critical role in product performance.

Test Process: The test involves heating the film under controlled conditions to measure the forces generated by shrinkage and contraction. The method also evaluates the film’s shrinkage ratio, providing data on its behavior when subjected to heat. Shrinkage forces are measured by gradually heating the material and recording the stress it generates.

Test Result Interpretation: Results from ISO 14616 tests help manufacturers understand how the material will behave in practical applications. High shrinkage stress indicates stronger contraction, which may be necessary for secure packaging. Conversely, lower stress could be ideal for more delicate products that require gentle shrink-wrapping.
