PSTC

The PSTC standard refers to a set of guidelines established by the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC), which is an industry association representing manufacturers of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes. The PSTC standards provide methods for testing the performance and characteristics of pressure-sensitive tapes in various applications, ensuring consistency, quality, and reliability in adhesive tape products.
Test Materials: PSTC testing uses adhesive tapes, substrates (e.g., paper, plastic), and peel testers. Materials must meet required thickness and quality standards for accurate results.
Test Process: The adhesive tape is applied to a substrate and peeled at a consistent angle and speed. Peel strength is measured to assess the adhesive’s performance.
Test Result Interpretation: Results are based on the peel strength values. Higher values indicate stronger adhesion, while lower values suggest weaker bonding. These are compared with industry standards.
